Community Health Systems in Birmingham, AL seeks a Sterile Process Technician II - Certified for the 2nd shift (1:00 PM–9:00 PM) with a $5,000 sign-on bonus. You will prepare and sterilize medical supplies, support QA, and train junior staff in a fast-paced sterile processing department.

The role requires 2–4 years of experience, CRCST and CSPDT certifications, and strong attention to detail to ensure compliance with safety standards and infection control protocols.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in sterile processing or a related role
• Knowledge of sterilization protocols and regulatory standards
• Ability to operate sterilization and decontamination equipment
• Strong attention to detail for quality control and documentation
• Knowledge of infection control protocols and safety practices

Responsibilities

• Follows protocols for cleaning, decontaminating, preparing, packaging, sterilizing, and storing supplies and equipment
• Assembles complex instrument trays and sets for procedures
• Distributes supplies within the facility with proper documentation
• Monitors and documents sterilization indicators and results
• Operates and maintains sterilization equipment; performs routine maintenance
• Guides Sterile Process Technician I staff and provides on-the-job training
• Performs quality checks on sterilized instruments and reports deficiencies
• Manages inventory, restocking, and logging of usage and testing results
• Ensures use of PPE and maintains a safe work environment
• Maintains privacy and confidentiality of health information
