Job summary

Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center in Pomona, CA is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to ensure proper decontamination, sterilization, and distribution of medical instruments and supplies for patient care. Under indirect supervision, you will coordinate with multiple departments and uphold Title 22, AORN and ANSI/AAMI standards.

Requires a high school diploma, CRCST/CBSPD or imminent certification, 3 months of sterile processing experience or 480 externship hours, and ability to lift 25

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CRCST or CBSPD certification or must obtain within six months of hire date.
• Three months experience in Sterile Processing and Surgery or completion of a Sterile Processing Technician program with 480 hours externship.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds, push/pull carts and tolerate prolonged standing.
• Effective verbal and written communication, phone etiquette, and basic math; computer literate.
• Ability to work effectively in a team; knowledge of ANSI/AAMI, AORN and Title 22 standards.

Position summary:Under indirect supervision, provides a product that has been made safe and/or sterile for patient care. Assuresproper decontamination, disinfection, preparation, sterilization, storage and distribution of medical instruments,equipment and medical supplies. Takes responsibility for assignments. Provides clear and concisecommunication when responding to phone request. Maintains quality standards by adhering to local, regional,infection control, and regulatory agencies (Title 22 requirement, AORN and ANSI/AAMI standards).Coordinates with all customer departments to assure supplies and equipment are provided for dailyoperations. May perform other duties as assigned.

RequiredQualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) or Certified Board for SterileProcessing & Distribution (CBSPD) or must be able to obtain (CRCST) certification within six months of hiredate. Three (3) months experience in Sterile Processing and Surgery or completion of a SterileProcessing Technician program with four hundred and eighty hours (480) of the clinical externship; ability to liftand carry twenty-five (25) pounds; capable of pushing and pulling carts; tolerate prolonged standing; possesseffective verbal and written communication skills, e.g., phone etiquette; able to perform basic mathematicalcalculations and be computer literate; able to work effectively in a team environment; knowledge andunderstanding of ANSIA/AAMI, AORN and title 22 standards

Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology and microbiology; experience working with generalinstrumentation, house wide kits and trays and surgical trays; working knowledge of HIVAC, Gravitydisplacement sterilizers, Scope Re-processors, Ultrasonic, Washer Decontaminators and processingequipment.

Salary range: $25.30 - $33.31 Salary will be commensurate with experience.
