Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician III to support sterile compounding, medication preparation, and clinical pharmacy services under supervision. The role emphasizes quality, patient safety, and regulatory readiness as part of Duke Health.

You will coordinate training, supervise technicians, and help maintain USP <797> compliance while collaborating with pharmacy leadership to improve processes.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy technician III requires certification by PTCB or ExCPT.
• Minimum of two years of pharmacy technician experience.
• Minimum of two years of sterile compounding experience preferred.
• Proficient with pharmacy operations and drug terminology.
• Must follow policy and procedure documents and maintain accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

• Follow policy and procedures with in-depth understanding of the designated area.
• Review and update policy and procedure documents related to technician functions.
• Assure consistent, compliant and safe technician work practices to established rules and regulations.
• Manage designated responsibilities while being able to shift to help team members.
• Monitors designated activity, identifies and resolves problems, develops solutions.
• Create reports for internal monitoring of the designated area.
• Serve as a primary training resource for developing competency in specialty areas.
• Promote a culture of patient safety and quality improvement in the sterile compounding program.
