Job summary

Position Summary

The STEM Teacheris responsible fordesigning and delivering engaging, standards-aligned instruction in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and innovation. The STEM Teacherfacilitateshands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences that prepare students for success in a rapidly evolving technological world while supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of all learners. This position aligns with Pennsylvania STEELS Standards and the Chichester School District's commitment to preparing students for college, career, and life readiness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instruction and Curriculum

  • Develop and implement rigorous STEM curriculum aligned with Pennsylvania STEELS Standards and district curriculum.
  • Deliver engaging, hands-on, project-based, and inquiry-driven learning experiences.
  • Integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts through interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
  • Utilize instructional technology and digital learning tools to enhance student engagement and achievement.
  • Facilitate design-thinking and engineering challenges that promote innovation and real-world problem solving.
  • Incorporate coding, robotics, engineering design, data analysis, and emerging technologies whenappropriate.

Student Learning and Assessment

  • Assess student learning through formal and informal measures, performance tasks, projects, and demonstrations of learning.
  • Monitor student progress and use data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with disabilities, English Language Learners, and gifted students.
  • Providetimelyand meaningful feedback to students and familiesregardingacademic progress.
  • Maintainaccuraterecords of student achievement and attendance.

Classroom Environment

  • Establish andmaintaina safe, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment.
  • Promote a culture of curiosity, collaboration, perseverance, and respect.
  • Ensure the safe use and maintenance of STEM equipment, materials, and technology resources.
  • Implement effective classroom management practices that maximize student engagement and learning.

Collaboration and Leadership

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary learning opportunities and school-wide STEM initiatives.
  • Support integration of STEM practices across content areas.
  • Participate in curriculum development, professional learning communities, and district committees.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Assist with STEM-related events such as science fairs, robotics competitions, engineering showcases, coding clubs, and career exploration activities.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Remain current with advances in STEM education, instructional technology, and educational best practices.
  • Participate in professional development activities and pursue continuous growth.
  • Adhere to district policies, state regulations, professional ethics, and safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Instructional I or II Certificate in one of the following:
  • Middle Level Science 7-9
  • Science 7-12
  • Grades 4-8 withappropriate sciencecertification
  • Otherappropriate STEM-relatedcertification as approved by PDE.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of STEM instructional practices and curriculum.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to integrate technology into instruction.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Pennsylvania STEELS Standards and STEM best practices.
  • Ability to foster creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration.
  • Skilled in project-based and inquiry-based instructional methodologies.
  • Proficiencywith instructional technology and digital learning platforms.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Physical Requirements

Terms of Employment

  • Salary and benefitsin accordance withthe Chichester Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Evaluation consistent with district policy and Pennsylvania educator effectiveness requirements.
