Job summary

Sam Houston State University is seeking Student Employee tutors for the Academic Success Center to assist students in STEM and MATH courses. Tutors will conduct sessions individually or in groups, either in person or online, and work 10 to 25 hours per week based on need and availability.

Applicants must maintain a 3.0 GPA, be SHSU undergrad/grad students, provide two recommendation letters, and have completed FAFSA for the term. CRLA certification is part of the evaluation process.

Qualifications

• 3.0 overall GPA required.
• Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at SHSU for at least 2 semesters.
• Must have maintained an A average in the course you are applying to tutor for.
• Two recommendation letters from faculty/instructors who can discuss your math skills and your ability to work with students.
• Must have completed FAFSA for the current academic term.

Responsibilities

• Tutor STEM/MATH subjects in 1:1 or group sessions.
• Assist students with study strategies and content review/interpretation.
• Sessions may be conducted face-to-face or online.
• Pursue CRLA certification as part of the employee evaluation process.
