Job summary

Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, NJ is seeking a paid STEM Engager Internship to support Public Programs. You will assist with demonstrations, pop-ups, and hands-on activities, while helping develop a new program under supervision.

Ideal candidates are pursuing an undergraduate STEM degree or graduating in 2026 in New Jersey, with strong communication and public engagement skills and a passion for sharing STEM with learners of all ages. This is a part-time, on-site role.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in STEM or a 2026 graduate in NJ.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with guests and staff.
• Ability to adapt explanations for audiences of different ages.
• Some experience with teaching, activity development, or public speaking is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist STEM Engagers in facilitating demonstrations, pop-ups, and hands-on experiences.
• Engage guests and tailor activities to different ages and levels of understanding.
• Assist with developing, testing, and revising hands-on activities for public programs.
• Contribute ideas to support development of new public programming.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
