Job summary

Virginia Tech is seeking an Engineering Education Lab Lead Instructor and STEM Programs Manager to partner with College of Engineering faculty and the Director of Technical Education and Workforce Development. You will plan, design, implement and lead hands-on programs for school‑aged learners and their educators, parents, and the community.

This exempt, restricted appointment requires a Master’s degree and licensure eligibility, plus experience in K-12 curriculum, STEM outreach, and program

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education or a technical field with hands-on teaching experience.
• Eligible for Virginia teacher licensure in one or more subjects.
• Experience in secondary or upper elementary curriculum and instruction.
• Familiarity with DC metro area schools, DCPS and nearby NV schools.
• Experience managing teams of volunteers and research assistants.
• Experience in STEM outreach and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, implement and lead physical computing and STEM programs.
• Collaborate with Virginia Tech College of Engineering faculty and staff.
• Lead and support programs for school‑aged learners, educators, and families.
• Coordinate and supervise secondary/post‑secondary volunteers and researchers.
• Develop and deliver STEM outreach and maker‑space activities.
