Job summary

Nucor Steel Seattle, Inc. is seeking a dedicated team member for the Met Lab in Seattle, WA. The role involves operating lab equipment, gathering and testing samples, and ensuring data accuracy to meet testing plans and specifications.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to lift 50 lbs, and willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts including nights and weekends. Advanced degrees and measurement tool experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs to 42" daily.
• Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts incl. nights, weekends and holidays.
• Preferred: 2-year associate degree or college degree in a related field.
• Experience with micrometers, dial calipers, ASTM steel standards and testing methods.

Responsibilities

• Safely operating machines (saw, grinder, impact machine, CNC mill, bend test, etching acid bath, Tensile Machine).
• Gathering, organizing, recording, preparing and testing samples per testing plans.
• Maintain calibration of testing equipment and assist team in Met Lab duties.
• Support safety policies and maintain a clean, safe work area.
