These roles require reading drawings, precise layout, cutting, fitting, and producing clean, consistent assemblies with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Read construction drawings and lay out rail assemblies.
• Measure, cut, and fit steel components precisely.
• Fabricate rail assemblies to plan dimensions and finish welds cleanly.
• Possess welding experience (MIG and/or stick) with safety.
• Two hires, one with current welding certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read drawings, details, and dimensions to guide fabrication.

Job description

D. G. Granade, Inc. is looking to hire two experienced steel fabricators/welders for an approximately four-week shop fabrication assignment.

The primary scope of work will be the layout, fabrication, and welding of steel handrails and guardrails for a current construction project.

This is not an entry-level welding position. We are looking for experienced fabricators who can read drawings, accurately lay out the work, cut and fit steel, and produce clean, consistent finished assemblies with minimal supervision.

At least one of the two positions requires a current welding certification applicable to the work being performed.

The Work

The work will primarily include

• Read and work from construction drawings, details, and dimensions.
• Lay out steel handrail and guardrail assemblies.
• Measure, cut, fit, and prepare steel components.
• Fabricate complete rail assemblies accurately to plan dimensions.
• MIG and/or stick weld steel components as required.
• Grind and finish welds where required for a clean finished product.
• Maintain proper dimensions, alignment, and consistency between assemblies.
• Check completed work for fit and accuracy.
• Safely operate saws, grinders, welders, and other metal fabrication equipment.
• Maintain an organized and productive shop work area.

What We're Looking For

We need experienced steel fabricators who know how to build finished work, not simply someone who knows how to run a welder.

Qualified applicants should be comfortable with

• Reading construction and fabrication drawings.
• Steel layout and fabrication.
• Accurate measuring and cutting.
• Fitting components prior to welding.
• Producing clean, consistent welds.
• Fabricating repetitive assemblies while maintaining dimensional accuracy.
• Working independently without constant supervision.
• Safely operating standard welding and fabrication equipment.

Previous experience fabricating handrails, guardrails, stairs, structural steel, or miscellaneous metals is strongly preferred.

One of the two hires must possess a current welding certification applicable to this work. Applicants with current certifications should identify their certification(s) when applying.

• Temporary position – approximately 4 weeks.
