Job summary

Firelands Fabrication is seeking an experienced Steel Detailer & Checker to produce and verify fabrication drawings for structural and miscellaneous steel projects. You will interpret design documents, create 3D models, and generate shop and field drawings while ensuring compliance with contract documents and quality procedures.

The role reports to the Detailing and Document Control Supervisor and Project Managers for project delivery and performance development.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of structural steel detailing experience.
• Strong knowledge of AISC standards and fabrication practices.
• Ability to read and interpret complex architectural and structural drawings.
• Experience producing shop and erection drawings and CNC data.
• Familiarity with BIM/coordinations practices is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents to develop accurate 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings.
• Produce shop and erection drawings and gather sheets for fabrication and field use.
• Detail bolted and welded connections per design requirements and industry standards.
• Generate and maintain BOMs and CNC data for fabrication equipment.
• Review drawings/models for accuracy, completeness, and constructability; ensure compliance with QMS.
