Job summary

All Things Metal is seeking a detail-oriented welding structural steel fabrication quality control inspector to join our Phoenix, AZ team. The role focuses on performing QC inspections across the fabrication process, including fit-up, welding, final QC, and coatings, while maintaining precise inspection records.

Ideal candidates bring five years of fabrication shop welding experience, strong reading of structural drawings, and knowledge of AWS/AISC codes.

Qualifications

• Five years fabrication shop welding experience.
• Structural steel fabrication experience.
• Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings and blueprints.
• Knowledge of AWS and AISC codes applicable to steel fabrication and erection.
• Must have structural steel fabrication experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality control inspections during fabrication (fit-up, weld, final QC, parts and finish/coating inspections).
• Record and maintain inspection records per quality system.
• Communicate effectively with foremen, project managers and team members.
• Plan and coordinate inspections as required to meet production deadlines.
• Maintain compliance with the quality system throughout the QC process.
• Lead internal and external quality audits and support project deadlines.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Support the fabrication shop by performing quality control inspections while meeting the demands of production (Includes fit-up, weld, final QC, parts & finish/coating inspections)

• Record and maintain inspection records for quality assurance per City Certification QSM
• Communicate effectively with fabrication foremen, project managers, and team members throughout the company
• Plan & Coordinate inspections as required
• Maintain compliance with the QSM throughout the Quality Control process
• Establish & build quality control standards & processes as existing and new product lines progress
• Lead internal & external quality audits & meet project deadlines

EXPERIENCE (Resolution + Quality + Accuracy)

• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) a plus, but not required
• Five years fabrication shop welding experience
• Structural steel experience
• Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings and blueprints.
• Knowledge of AWS and AISC codes applicable to steel fabrication and erection
• Comply with shop safety policies while working in a safety sensitive position
• Must have structural steel fabrication experience.
