Job summary

Montgomery-Public-Schools is seeking a TEACHER to join our team in Limestone County. The position requires proper Alabama teaching certification and a duty to follow district philosophy and objectives.

The role includes planning, preparing, and delivering instruction, using technology, evaluating student progress, and maintaining records. The incumbent will work under the Principal, with the 188-day term and exempt status.

Qualifications

  • Must hold proper Alabama teaching certification per State Dept. requirements.
  • Experience with lesson planning and instructional delivery is essential.
  • Strong management of classroom expectations and student engagement.
  • Familiarity with district curriculum and local school system policies.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Develop schemes of work and detailed lesson plans.
  • Establish clear objectives for all learning activities and communicate them to students.
  • Prepare classroom for activities and provide diverse materials supporting instruction.
  • Use relevant technology to support instruction and monitor student progress.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit required reports on students and activities.
  • Manage classroom behavior and enforce school policies and discipline procedures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in department meetings and parent meetings.

Job Goal:

  1. To provide an educational atmosphere in which student will move toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth and maturation in accordance with District philosophy, goals, and objectives.

Qualification:

  1. Proper certification according to the Alabama State Department Teacher and Certification Office.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  1. Utilizes and follows the state course of study and the Limestone County School Continua of skills.
  2. Performs reliably and dependably with a good record of attendance, punctuality, flexibility and time management.
  3. Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning

experiences.

  1. Develop schemes of work and lesson plans.
  2. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  3. Prepare classroom for class activities.
  4. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  5. Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs.
  6. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  7. Use relevant technology to support instruction.
  8. Observe and evaluate student's performance and development.
  9. Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments.
  10. Provide appropriate feedback on work.
  11. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
  12. Maintains, updates and submits all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations.
  13. Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  14. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  15. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  16. Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.
  17. Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings.
  18. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  19. Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
  20. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations.
  21. Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.
  22. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to finger, to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, crouch and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary: Salary to be established by The Limestone County School’s District Salary Schedule.
