Job summary

Nexplore is seeking a STEAM After-School Instructor in Washington, DC. The instructor will deliver high-quality instruction in STEM, Digital Technology, Art, or Life Skills, utilizing training and assigned materials. Responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, maintaining communication with the Program Success Manager, and actively engaging families. Required qualifications include an Associate’s Degree, teaching experience, and excellent communication skills. This is a part-time position with compensation at $60 per hour for classes.

STEAM After‑School Instructor

Nexplore is a national enrichment service provider that offers STEAM, Life Skills, and Fitness programs for students from PreK through 12th grade. The organization serves over 1,200 sites in more than 25 states and partners with schools to deliver hands‑on learning experiences.

The Nexplore Instructor is responsible for consistently delivering high‑quality, in‑person instruction in STEM, Digital Technology, Art, or Life Skills as assigned. The instructor uses provided training, lesson plans, curriculum, and materials to prepare and teach classes, and reports directly to a Program Success Manager.

Responsibilities

• Follow the provided schedule, arrive on time, and prepare lesson plans and materials before instruction.
• Deliver meaningful, standard‑aligned instruction that cultivates critical thinking, problem solving, and a passion for learning. Manage all supplied instructional materials.
• Maintain professional, responsive communication with the Program Success Manager and site personnel.
• Deliver inspiring instruction from Nexplore’s collection of programs, administering accommodations and extensions as needed.
• Participate in family engagement efforts (e.g., welcome letters, showcases) and empower each child to meaningfully access and engage in programs.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children.
• Experience in educational development or training.
• Teaching degree or certificate is a plus.
• Commit to the full proposed schedule.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Reliable transportation.
• Willingness to complete mandatory training.
