Job summary

Camp Haynes is a STEAM-based program for PreK 3 through 8th grade that inspires curiosity, creativity, and confidence. The Assistant Group Leader will support daily activities, align with summer offerings, and help with materials for STEM programming.

The program runs June 22–July 17, from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with on-site and off-site field trips. We value collaboration with families and staff, safety, and equity-focused practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of verifiable experience with school-aged youth; or an associate degree (or higher).
• Experience with elementary and/or middle school students.
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth.
• Ability to build relationships with students, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong written and oral communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop a positive, supportive classroom environment and implement engaging daily activities for all students.
• Support lesson plan implementation and summer learning offerings.
• Prepare learning materials for STEAM programming and enrichment.
• Establish routines and ensure a safe learning environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and families; share updates on engagement and performance.
• Adhere to policies and prioritize student safety and care.
• Demonstrate strong organization, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Communicate with families about student progress during extended day programming.
• Complete required childcare compliance trainings and duties.
