Statistical Data Analyst (Puerto Rico Office)

Location : San Juan, Puerto Rico. This is a hybrid role and requires the candidate to be on-site at College Board offices every Tuesday and Wednesday.

Role Type: This is a full-time position.

As part of the Research & Development (R&D) division, the Research & Measurement (R&M) team keeps our assessments scientifically rigorous, operationally sound, and true to that mission across Latin America.

We work at the intersection of psychometrics, data science, and applied research , guiding how our assessments are designed, scored, analyzed, and continuously improved , holding our work to high standards of accuracy, reproducibility, and clear documentation.

We partner closely with Test Development, Technology and Assessment Operations to keep high-quality assessment programs running across the region.

About the Opportunity

As our Statistical Data Analyst , y ou are a strong, curious data professional, ready to put proven skills in data wrangling, analysis, and visualization to work on problems that genuinely matter. This role is a strong fit for someone ready to bring and expand transferable data skills into a new domain , and to apply them with confidence from day one.

Y ou make sure the data behind every score is sound, the analysis holds up to scrutiny, and the results students and educators depend on are ones they can believe in. You will be a hands-on, technical contributor to the Research & Measurement team , responsible for the statistical analysis, data management, quality control, and documentation that stand behind our psychometric and scoring work.

Partnering closely with psychometricians and researchers , who will help you grow into the science of educational measurement , you will analyze assessment data, run and validate item and test analyses, safeguard data quality, and communicate results clearly to technical and non-technical audiences alike. Just as important, you will draw out the insights our data holds and tell the story behind them , turning evidence into action that supports the work of educators across the region .

In parallel, you will sharpen how the team works , identifying the manual, repetitive steps in our analytic workflows and replacing them with reliable, repeatable routines that make psychometric and scoring processes faster, more consistent, and more reproducible. You will help build, test, and implement the data analytic cycles that sustain our digital-first assessments, partnering across teams to design the workflows and automated routines that keep them dependable and reusable.

In this role, you will:
Statistical Analysis & Data Management (35%)
  • Acquire , wrangle, structure, and maintain assessment data so it is well-organized, accurate , and ready for analysis.
  • Conduct statistical analyses of large assessment datasets using best practices, producing concise, insightful summaries that address research and business questions.
  • Update and maintain the quality, structure, and features of assessment databases, and perform regular audits to protect data integrity.
Psychometric & Scoring Support (30%)
  • Produce item and test analyses and their associated reports using a range of statistical and psychometric methods and models, in partnership with psychometricians.
  • Analyze statistical and psychometric output to identify and quickly address anomalies , such as outliers, incorrect data layouts, misrouted scoring, misidentified keys, irregular item statistics, and similar issues .
  • Execute and monitor test administration scoring activities, so they meet defined turnaround, accuracy, and QA standards.
  • Partner with researchers and psychometricians on projects and analyses that require careful data processing and interpretation.
Quality Control, Documentation & Communication (20%)
  • Apply rigorous quality-control and validation checks across analytic and scoring workflows, with strict attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Create reproducible, well-documented analyses , with strong version control and traceability , that are transparent, defensible, and lend themselves to automation.
  • Prepare memos, presentations, and reports that communicate complex concepts, processes, and findings in clear, actionable language for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Develop, design, and document operational procedures for recurring analytic and scoring tasks.
