Virginia Commonwealth University’s Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center in Richmond seeks a skilled biostatistician/biostatistical analyst to perform data analysis for study design and to write statistical reports. You will create tables and figures, interpret results, and contribute to manuscripts and grant applications.

The role requires a Master’s in biostatistics and 2+ years of experience with SAS and R, strong communication, and the ability to support multiple projects in a biomedical

  • Data Analysis and Statistical Reporting for study design and writing statistical reports.
  • Manuscripts, Grant Writing and Presentations support for Massey Cancer Center researchers.
  • Provide biostatistical services to Massey Cancer Center Members and VCU faculty.
  • Assist in extracting working data files from the master database and ensure data integrity.

Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities:

1) Data Analysis and Statistical Reporting

  • Perform data analysis required for study design and facilitatethe writing of statistical reports.
  • Create tables and figures as well as write statistical reportsthat entail the (1) data, (2) statistical method employed, (3)interpretation of the results and (4) conclusions made.

2) Manuscripts, Grant Writing and Presentations

  • Assist in the preparation of manuscripts, grant applicationsand slide presentations.
  • Provide wide‑ranging biostatistical services to Massey CancerCenter Members and VCU faculty.
  • Support ongoing and future research projects by extractingworking data files from the master database while ensuring theaccuracy of the created files.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in biostatistics or statistics and or a similar field or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
  • Must be capable of performing critical analyses of the literature relevant to ongoing or planned research projects.
  • 2 or more years of experience with defining technical problems in research projects and databases and implementing new or revised statistical approaches to alleviate the problems.
  • Proven ability to disseminate research findings in both oral and written formats.
  • 2 or more years of experience with statistical software applications, including SAS, R, etc.
  • Collaborative experience in a biomedical research environment.
  • 2 or more years of experience in preparing statistical reports, manuscripts for publication.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships and collaborating with team members at all levels to gather information and support compliance efforts;
  • Problem-solving and organizational aptitude, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines in a dynamic environment and independently make critical decisions.
