Job summary

JLL is hiring a Stationary Steam Engineer in Mason, OH to serve as the technical backbone of critical plant operations. You will operate and maintain high-pressure boilers, HVAC systems, and plant utilities to ensure 24/7 reliability and peak performance.

Qualifications

• Valid State Stationary Steam Engineer License.
• Hands-on experience operating high-pressure steam boilers.
• Knowledge of industrial chiller systems, compressed air systems and plant utilities.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and technical manuals.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays to support 24/7 operations.
• Physical capability to work in industrial environments with heat, noise and machinery.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor high-pressure steam boilers in accordance with state regulations; perform routine inspections and water treatment monitoring; optimize combustion efficiency while ensuring safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
• Operate and maintain industrial chiller systems and HVAC equipment; monitor refrigerant levels, temperatures, and pressures to support facility cooling and performance.
• Manage plant utilities including compressed air, compressors, dryers, and valve operations to maintain flow and pressure for continuous production.
• Monitor plant control systems and instrumentation; respond to alarms and malfunctions; adjust settings to maintain stability and prevent downtime.
• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance; maintain logs and records; identify issues and implement corrective actions before escalation.

Stationary Steam Engineer - JLL

What this job involves:

As a Stationary Steam Engineer at JLL, you'll be the technical backbone of critical plant operations, ensuring 24/7 system reliability and peak performance. In this hands-on role, you'll operate and maintain high-pressure boilers, industrial HVAC systems, and essential plant utilities that keep our facility running continuously. Your expertise will directly impact operational excellence as you monitor complex systems, respond to real-time operational demands, and execute preventive maintenance strategies. This position offers the opportunity to work with sophisticated industrial equipment while playing a vital role in maintaining the safety, efficiency, and reliability of mission-critical infrastructure. What your day-to-day will look like:

• Operate and monitor high-pressure steam boilers in accordance with state regulations, performing routine inspections, water treatment monitoring, and combustion efficiency optimization while ensuring full compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements
• Operate and maintain industrial chiller systems and HVAC equipment, monitoring refrigerant levels, temperatures, and pressures to support facility cooling requirements and maintain optimal system performance
• Manage plant utilities including compressed air systems, compressors, dryers, and valve operations throughout the facility to maintain proper flow, pressure, and efficient system operation supporting continuous production
• Monitor plant control systems and instrumentation continuously, responding promptly to alarms, equipment malfunctions, and operational irregularities by making real-time adjustments to maintain system stability and prevent downtime
• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance programs on all assigned equipment, maintain accurate maintenance logs and equipment records, and proactively identify potential issues to implement corrective actions before problems escalation

Required Qualifications:

• Valid State Stationary Steam Engineer License (non-negotiable)
• Demonstrated hands-on experience operating and maintaining high-pressure steam boilers in an industrial or commercial setting
• Working knowledge of industrial chiller systems, compressed air systems, and plant utility operations
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, equipment blueprints, and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues quickly
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays to support 24/7 continuous plant operations
• Physical capability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, stand for extended periods, and work in industrial environments with exposure to heat, noise, and machinery

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in 24/7 manufacturing, industrial plant, or critical facility operations
• Knowledge of water treatment systems, boiler chemistry, and chemical feed programs
• Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS), control systems, and SCADA platforms
• HVAC/R certification, refrigeration license, or additional trade certifications
• Experience with compressed air system optimization and energy management initiatives

Location: Mason, OH

Work Shift: 12 Hour Day - 1st Shift/Morning Rotating shifts with overtime, weekend, and holiday coverage required to support 24/7 operations
