Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Stationary Equipment Technician to diagnose and repair recycling equipment, conveyors, and heavy machinery. The role focuses on routine maintenance, hydraulic and electrical systems, and reading repair orders to ensure safe, productive operations.

The ideal candidate has a trade school certificate and at least 1 year of related maintenance experience, with a valid driver’s license and hands-on mechanical skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of related equipment maintenance and repair or trade school certification.
• Experience with PLCs and motorized systems is preferred.
• Experience working with conveyors or heavy equipment is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses mechanical problems using charts, manuals, and software.
• Repairs and maintains recycling equipment, heavy equipment, and light trucks.
• Replaces worn parts such as pistons, gears, valves, and bearings with hand tools.
• Reads vehicle condition reports and repair orders; communicates with supervisor and operators for clarifications.
• Documents parts usage and times in work orders; records daily hours, fuel, and oil usage.
• Performs safety procedures and preventative maintenance on rolling stock and associated systems.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Stationary EquipmentTechnician performs repairs and maintenance on recycling equipment, compact heavy equipment and light trucks to maximize safe and productive operations. Typical repairs include, but are not limited to, routine maintenance and repair of hydraulic systems, industrial electrical systems, 480V balers, conveyor systems and compactors. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:* Diagnoses mechanical problems using charts, diagnostic software, technical manuals and expertise.* Performs repairs and maintenance on recycling equipment, compact heavy equipment and light trucks to maximize safe and productive operations.* Repairs or replaces parts, such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings, using mechanic's hand tools.* Replaces conveyor belts, electrical motors, hydraulic cylinders and other mechanical parts.* Reads and interprets VCRs (vehicle condition reports) and/or repair orders, communicates with supervisor and/or equipment operators for clarification of problems.
