Job summary

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is hiring multiple journey-level Stationary Engineers to join the Sewage Plant team.

Ideal candidates hold a Grade I or higher California Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate or Grade I or higher California Water Environment Mechanical Technology Certificate and have 4 years of verifiable journey-level experience in operation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater plant systems.

Qualifications

Four (4) years of verifiable journey-level Stationary Engineer, Plant Operator and/or Plant Mechanic experience in operation, maintenance and repair of plant machinery.
Completion of a recognized four-year Stationary Engineer Apprenticeship Program.
Graduation from a recognized four-year Maritime Academy with a degree in Engineering or Technology.
Possession of at least a 3rd Assistant Marine Engineer's License of any unrestricted horsepower (not acceptable: Oiler/Firetender).
Possession of an FAA Airframe or Power Plant Certificate with four years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Makes regular inspections and maintains logs of plant machinery to ensure safety and efficiency.
Performs tests of raw sewage and chemical samples to assess treatment efficiency and permit compliance.
Operates and maintains pumps, boilers, HVAC, and related equipment; performs repairs and ensures reliability.
Inspects pipelines, tanks, and gates for condition, blockages, and deposits to ensure proper operation.
Monitors disinfection and dechlorination systems and adjusts chemical dosages to meet discharge requirements.
