Job summary

Aker BioMarine is seeking a Stationary Engineer/Utilities I to operate and maintain stationary equipment including steam boilers, air compressors, generators, wastewater, cooling towers, and refrigeration systems. You will monitor automation systems to ensure peak performance and safety.

Responsibilities include monitoring equipment, diagnosing issues, maintaining chemical levels, and conducting startup and safety testing.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • First Grade Stationary Engineers license required.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in stationary engineering or utilities.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor & repair operating equipment and diagnose mechanical issues using blueprints and manuals.
  • Monitor boiler water, chemicals, wastewater and fuel levels.
  • Ensure safe startup of boilers and refrigeration systems; test safety and record results.
  • Regularly inspect property for safety issues (hazards, wiring, lighting).
  • Perform other duties and prioritize tasks as needed.

Stationary Engineer Utilities I

The Stationary Engineer/Utilities will operate and maintain stationary equipment such as steam boilers, air compressors, generators, wastewater, cooling towers, fire systems and refrigeration equipment and operate automation systems to ensure peak performance of the systems.

Responsibilities
Equipment Monitoring & Repair
  • Monitor & adjust/repair operating equipment. Diagnose mechanical problems & determine how to correct issues, check blueprints, repair manuals, & parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Assist in basic maintenance repairs
  • Keep plant online by making manual adjustments
System Monitoring & Chemical Levels
  • Monitor boiler water, boiler chemicals, wastewater chemicals and fuel levels.
Startup & Safety Testing
  • Proper & safe startup of boilers, refrigeration systems and wastewater systems.
  • Test boiler and refrigeration system safety and record results.
Property & Safety Inspections
  • Regularly inspect property for safety & security issues, including but not limited to, non-functioning lights, ground & trip hazards, broken fences, handrails, safety railings, exposed wiring, potholes, and sewer line breaks.
  • Back flows, process flows and P&ID awareness.
Other Tasks
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Problem solving—the individual identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints to draft clear and detailed manufacturing procedures.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Work Experience
  • 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of HMI operations and computer electronics, & computer communications. & uses of electronic test equipment.
  • Knowledge of operation & uses of various pumps including multi-stage and centrifugal.
  • Basic computer skills with office productivity software for e-mail, work processing, & spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • First Grade Stationary Engineers license
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of standing.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
