Job summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Human Resource Management (EDR) seeks a Hearings Program Director to oversee the Hearings Program and oversee administrative hearings, rulings, and related dispute-resolution services for state employees. Qualifications

Investigations and analysis of relevant facts in light of governing principles, policies, and laws.
Ability to write and speak clearly in legal matters.
Knowledge of public employment laws, grievance rights, ADR methods, and dispute resolution best practices.
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, agency management, and their representatives.
High judgment, objectivity, and poise in sensitive, emotionally charged situations.
Ability to oversee operations of a statewide hearings program with independence.

Responsibilities

Investigate, analyze, and draft administrative rulings in employee grievances.
