Job summary

The Tennessee Aquarium is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to advance freshwater conservation through statewide outreach, watershed education, and partnerships. You will collaborate with Aquarium Educators to deliver River Teachers professional development and conduct community science watershed monitoring training for diverse audiences.

You will build relationships with communities, landowners, and educators, and help run events like Conservation Nights and water quality monitoring

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources, Environmental Sciences, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of two years in community outreach, volunteer coordination, event planning, or environmental education, preferred.
  • Certification in Project WET, Project WILD, and/or Georgia Adopt-A-Stream or similar programs, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and maintain relationships with communities statewide.
  • Develop, evaluate, and adapt community engagement plans for conservation projects.
  • Collaborate with departments to host conservation events and celebrations.
  • Share information about land use practices to protect freshwater health.
  • Contribute content to social media, newsletters, and web updates.
  • Track and evaluate outcomes of engagement programs and adjust as needed.
