Qualifications

• A bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited college or university, including at least 15 credit hours of science-related coursework.
• Minimum of two years of professional or technical work experience in an accredited forensic laboratory or law enforcement agency.
• Certification in a forensic discipline is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examining and analyzing physical evidence associated with criminal investigations.
• Preparing reagents, maintaining section equipment and logbooks.
• Performing quality control checks and cleaning work areas.

Skills

Knowledge of terminology and techniques used in the forensic laboratory

Knowledge of the procedures for packaging, handling and preserving evidence

Skill in the preparation of reagents and the use of scientific laboratory equipment

Ability to analyze results, formulate conclusions and present findings verbally and in writing

Ability to give sworn testimony in court

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

Education

Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a science-related field

Certification in a forensic discipline
