Job summary

Achievement Behavior Servies (ABS) is seeking a part-time Behavior Technician to work 1:1 with children in their home environment, under the guidance of a BCBA. The role focuses on ABA-based goals, documentation, and family collaboration.

You will engage with preschool and elementary-age children, using discrete trial teaching, prompting, modeling, and positive reinforcement to improve communication, focus, and adaptive behaviors. Training and supervision are provided.

Qualifications

• Most Relevant Areas of Study: Applied Behavior Analysis, psychology, Special education, OT, and Speech-Language Pathology.
• Preferred: Active RBT certificate from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
• Strong stakeholder communication skills required.
• Adaptability and decisiveness under high-stress situations.
• Punctuality and responsiveness in professional administration.
• Experience with preschool and elementary-aged children.
• Experience with autism and development issues.
• Other NY State required qualifications.
• Intuitive, engaging, compassionate and person-centered approaches.
• Proven experience documenting progress notes aligned with treatment plans.
• Structured and creative play skills.

Responsibilities

• Measure, assess, and document skill acquisition on the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).
• 1:1 goal-oriented in-home direct service work implementing ABA approaches (DTT, prompting, modeling, redirection, reinforcements).
• Thorough session-to-session documentation, data analysis, and billing.
• Actively engaging with clinical direction and feedback from BCBA supervisor(s).
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients or students, caregivers, supervisors, and coworkers.

About Achievement Behavior Servies (ABS):

We are an agency that was founded ten years ago, in 2015, by the joint efforts of dedicated BCBAs and LCSWs. We have a successful history of supporting children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families with direct, in-home/in-community ABA therapeutic services. Our approach uses the principles and practices of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to mentor and support these children towards increasing their communication, adaptability, resilience, and independence.

  In the role of a Behavior Technician, you will work directly, one-on-one, with the child in their natural, home environment. You will be supported by a lead, board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) while you move through the individualized Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) that was scribed to help the student experience increased success in communication, focus, and positively adapting behaviors.

Daily Expectations of a Behavior Technician:

• Engaging rapport building and curiosity to find creative solutions to help a student more effectively communicate their needs, wants, and feelings

• Measure, assess, and document skill acquisition of student's progress on the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)

• 1:1 Goal-oriented, in home, direct service work with a student involving implementation of ABA approaches including but not limited to discrete trial teaching, prompting, modeling, redirection, reinforcements, and reward-systems.

• Thorough and comprehensive session-to-session documentation, data analysis, and billing.

• Actively engaging with clinical direction and professional feedback from BCBA supervisor(s)

• Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients or students, caregivers, supervisors, and coworkers

The Qualifications:

• Most Relevant Areas of Study: Applied Behavior Analysis, psychology, Special education, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology

• Preferred: Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board

• Strong and multi-tiered stakeholder communication skills required

• Adaptability and decisiveness under high-stress situations

• Exhibits professional administrative reliability: punctuality and responsiveness

• Proven experience working with pre-school and elementary school-aged children

• Additional evidence of successful work with patients suffering from Autism and development issues

• Other experience, certificates, or qualifications as required by NY State.
