Job summary

Mansfield Care Center is seeking a State Tested Nursing Assistant to provide compassionate direct care to residents, assist with daily living activities, monitor health status, and support the nursing team.

You will participate in in-service training, help maintain a clean, safe environment, document care in flowsheets, and mentor other staff while upholding resident rights and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active State Tested Nursing Assistant license in this state.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be a supportive team member and contribute to teamwork.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions when warranted.
  • Must have knowledge of nursing and medical practices and related laws and guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to residents, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Assist residents with daily living activities, such as toileting, incontinence care, and mobility
  • Monitor residents' conditions and report any changes or concerns to the nursing team
  • Supervise and educate STNAs and other Facility personnel on established policies and procedures
  • Participate in staff development activities, including in-service training and orientation programs
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to all safety and sanitation protocols
  • Ensure that all equipment and supplies are properly maintained and used
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administrative Functions:
    • Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, and computer programs in an informative and descriptive manner
    • Report all changes in the resident's condition to the Nurse Supervisor, LPN, or RN
  • Personnel Functions:
    • Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures
    • Cooperate with inter-departmental personnel and other Facility personnel to ensure adequate nursing services
    • Meet with shift's nursing personnel to identify and correct problem areas
  • Personal Care Functions:
    • Participate in and receive the nursing report upon reporting for duty
    • Assist residents with daily dental and mouth care
    • Assist residents with bath functions and dressing and undressing
    • Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures
    • Provide eye and ear care
  • Staff Development:
    • Attend and participate in scheduled training and educational classes
    • Attend and participate in scheduled orientation programs and activities
  • Safety and Sanitation:
    • Participate in appropriate in-service training programs prior to performing tasks that involve potential exposure to blood and body fluids
    • Wash hands before and after performing any service for the resident
    • Report all hazardous conditions and equipment to any member of management or nursing supervisor immediately
  • Equipment and Supply Functions:
    • Use only the equipment you have been trained to use
    • Report defective equipment to any member of management or nursing supervisor
  • Care Plan and Assessment:
    • Review care plans daily to determine if changes in the resident's daily care routine have been made on the care plan
    • Inform the Nurse Supervisor, LPN, or RN of any changes in the resident's condition
  • Resident Rights:
    • Honor the resident's refusal of treatment request
    • Abide by the resident's participation in treatment decision
    • Inform the resident of consequences of not participating in prescribed therapy and document such action in the resident's clinical record
Qualifications
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a State Tested Nursing Assistant in this state
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and team concept
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel
