Job summary

Spee Dee Delivery Service is seeking a State Safety Manager to oversee the health and safety of all employees within the state, including the hub and all branches. This exempt salary position is based in Minnesota with required travel and a starting wage of $70,000 to $92,500, depending on experience and credentials.

The role emphasizes compliance with federal, state, local, and company policies, along with developing safety programs, training, and reporting to upper management.

Qualifications

• Age 18 or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Admin, Health and Safety, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of health and safety experience preferred.
• CDL Class A license or successful CDL training within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily safety operations for the state and ensure compliance with laws and policies.
• Maintain a driver inventory database.
• Collaborate with coworkers, supervisors, and stakeholders.
• Inspect facilities to identify safety, health and environmental risks.
• Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures; schedule inspections.
• Prepare safety reports for upper management; schedule trainings.
• Monitor compliance with safety procedures; draft inspection reports.
• Ensure MSDS are maintained and accessible; manage hazardous waste exposure records.
• Lead monthly leadership meetings; travel as required.

Job Summary

The State Safety Manager will oversee the health and safety of all employees for their respective state, including the hub and all branch locations.

Hours and Wages

• Exempt salary position
• Starting wage: $70,000- $92,5000 based on relevant years of experience, education, certifications, and comparison to other employees already in this role

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily safety operations of the state and ensure all laws, regulations, and employment practices are being followed properly
• Maintain a driver inventory database
• Collaborate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and stakeholders
• Inspect each facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks
• Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures, schedule routine inspections
• Prepare and present various safety related reports to upper management
• Prepare and schedule training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant projects
• Monitor compliance with safety procedures
• Draft inspection reports to document inspection findings
• Ensure that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed
• Maintain records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required
• Facilitate monthly leadership meetings
• Travel is required
• Perform other required duties as assigned

Education and Experience

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Health and Safety, or related field preferred
• 5+ years of experience in health and safety preferred
• Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license or successfully complete company paid CDL training program within 90 days of employment

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
• Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
