Job summary

The Department of General Services (DGS) in Richmond, VA seeks a licensed Electrical Engineer to serve as State Review Electrical Engineer. You will inspect construction plans, ensure code compliance, and provide expert reviews and recommendations for state projects.

Under supervision, you will write technical reports, present findings, and collaborate with other engineers to apply the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and CPSM standards.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer licensed in Virginia (or ability to obtain within one year).
  • Substantial experience in building code analyses and in preparing plans and specifications for diverse facilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to management, clients, and other professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Review plans and specifications to conform to VUSBC and CPSM.
  • Create technical reports and recommendations and present them to stakeholders.
  • Consult with DEB reviewers to determine code applications for consistent guidance.
  • Participate in building inspections.
  • Provide technical assistance to Agencies, their A/E designers, and representatives from A/E firms.
