Job Description and Duties

***This is a Peace Officer Position . To be eligible, you must meet the minimum qualifications established by the Department of Human Resources AND either be currently eligible or eligible for reinstatement as a PC 830.2, California State Peace Officer.
If you are not a current peace officer and in possession of a POST - Academy, Basic, Intermediate or Advanced Certificate, you are not eligible for this position.

The reporting location for this position is Folsom Lake State Recreation Area in Folsom, CA. This position will work under the supervision of State Park Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger).

This position will assist with carrying out all phases of the Visitor Services Program at the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, which includes Folsom Lake, Lake Natoma and Powerhouse State Historic Park. Duties include park patrol and campground/day use management, first aid, interpretation, law enforcement, resource management, ensuring that proper nutrition, veterinary care, housing and kenneling, grooming and exercise needs of the patrol dog are met.

In order to be eligible for this position, candidates must have a minimum of two years' experience as a DPR State Park Peace Officer (Ranger/Lifeguard).

The incumbent will be expected to complete the annual POST canine team evaluation. Interested Canine and non-Canine Handlers should both apply at this time. A supplemental application process will be required for all non-Canine Handler applicants. Candidates that will be eligible for selection to the Canine Program by the final filing date are encouraged to apply. The incumbent will be expected to maintain canine certification and training.
