Qualifications

Location: Available for any Partners' NC locations; Remote option in NC or within 40 miles of NC border

Primary Purpose of Position: The primary purpose of the State Opioid Response (SOR) Coordinator is to coordinate the comprehensive implementation of North Carolina's strategies to combat the opioid crisis. This role involves coordinating efforts across multiple sectors, including healthcare providers, community organizations, and local governments, to expand access to opioid misuse prevention, treatment, and recovery services. The coordinator will develop and manage community education programs on opioid misuse and overdose prevention, establish and support peer support networks and recovery communities, and promote harm reduction strategies such as naloxone distribution and syringe exchange programs. Additionally, the coordinator will monitor and evaluate program outcomes to ensure their effectiveness and make necessary adjustments to meet the initiative's goals. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and drive impactful results in addressing the opioid crisis.

Role And Responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation of the NC State Opioid Response Initiative.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, community organizations, and local governments to expand access to opioid misuse prevention, treatment, and recovery services.
  • Develop and manage community education programs on opioid misuse and overdose prevention.
  • Coordinate peer support networks and recovery community initiatives.
  • Promote harm reduction strategies, including naloxone distribution and syringe exchange programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate program outcomes to ensure effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
  • Provide training and support to community stakeholders on opioid-related issues.
  • Coordinate other substance use related projects and/or initiatives
  • Collaborate with the data specialist and data analyst to track and monitor program data.
  • Work with the Chief Medical Officer, pharmacists, and nurses to identify and implement best practices to achieve whole-person care.
  • Assist the team with OUD/SUD related initiatives and projects to meet goals and specific requirements for special allocations of OUD/SUD funding.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Strong clinical knowledge of substance use disorders and effective treatment in healthcare settings
  • Knowledge and experience in researching and adapting existing and emerging clinical best practices in the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD) and other substance use disorders

  • Ability to coordinate and effectively communicate with others to ensure successful recovery
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting policies and procedures

  • Ability to promote effective partnerships between Partners staff, providers, and community stakeholders
  • Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work effectively with others to promote a team effort to address the needs of the members served
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office products (such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Excellent problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail, time management, prioritization, problem solving, adaptability, and a willingness to learn
  • Experience in working with value-based contracts and an interest in the development of VBC is preferred

Education/Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field
  • Two years of experience in substance use prevention and treatment including evidenced based practices
  • Two years of experience managing complex projects
  • Two years of team lead or supervisory experience

Education/Experience Preferred

  • Master’s degree and a minimum of two years of human services/healthcare experience
  • NC certification of Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS)
  • Knowledge of the opioid misuse prevention & treatment programs including evidenced based practices
  • Experience working with special allocations and state funded initiatives/grants
  • Experience managing a budget
  • LME/MCO experience
