Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a State Communications Representative to deliver high‑quality internal, external and customer communications at the state level. You will partner with the Head of Communications and collaborate with Operations, External Affairs, Regulatory, Customer Accounts & Local Engagement, Safety and Corporate Communications to ensure consistent messaging.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or related field.
• 3–7 years of communications experience across employee/internal communications, media relations, digital content or customer engagement.
• Strong writing and editing skills tailored to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute internal communications that inform, engage and align state employees with strategic priorities.
• Draft employee-focused messaging for portal articles, leadership updates, safety campaigns and transformation initiatives.
• Translate complex or technical concepts into accessible internal content.
• Support executive communications including presentations, talking points and internal videos.
• Coordinate with HR, Operations, Safety and Corporate Communications for timely internal messaging.
• Serve as media spokesperson and handle external communications including releases and briefings.
• Produce customer-focused content for energy programs and community engagement.
• Create digital content for web, social media, video scripts and multimedia assets.
