Job summary

Broetje Automation in Kinston, NC is seeking a Startup Engineer to provide electrical and controls engineering expertise for new equipment and system introductions. Travel to customer sites is required.

You will be the internal SME for Siemens PLC/HMI and motion control, apply electronics and programming knowledge, and support commissioning and troubleshooting with teams and vendors.

Qualifications

• BS or equivalent with industrial robotics or machine tools experience.
• 3+ years of experience in industrial automation or equivalent.
• Strong electrical/design and controls engineering knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical and controls engineering support for new equipment and system introductions.
• Internal SME for Siemens PLC, HMI, motion control systems, sensors, and electromechanical devices.
• Apply knowledge of electronics, electrical circuits, mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and programming.
• Travel to customer sites for machine commissioning and troubleshooting support.
• Maintain logs and written records of duties performed.

Compensation/Benefits:

• Competitive hourly wage, ranges $34.00 – 43.00/hour, plus overtime

Required Education:

• BS in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering preferred, BS in Computer Science, or comparable experience with industrial robotics or machine tools.
• Technical Certificate OR BS in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, and 3+ years of experience within the industrial automation industry or equivalent experience.

Desirable Experience:

• Industrial automation industry or equivalent experience
• Siemens Step 7 PLC troubleshooting experience
• Siemens TIA Portal; Sinumerik One
• CNC troubleshooting experience
• Experience in IEC61131 (PLC programming languages)
• Ability to analyze and diagnose automation problems

Qualifications:

• Strong fundamental understanding of electrical design practices, machine/motion control systems, electro-mechanical systems, robotics, programming, and system integration
• Understanding of PLC programming languages
• Experienced in troubleshooting electrical control panels
• CNC troubleshooting experience
• Knowledge of NC Controllers: Siemens 840D or WINCC
• Experience using precision measurement equipment (i.e. Dial indicators, calipers, etc.
• Strong communication skills & ability to interact with teams, clients, and vendors
• Experience with aerial platforms and working at heights
• Ability to lift and move materials or equipment weighing up to approximately 40 lbs
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and repetitively climb stairs within a manufacturing environment
• Must have shift flexibility
• Open to working weekend shifts – (3) 12-hour shifts
• Must be able to travel to customer sites, primarily Charleston, SC and Kinston, NC (50%+ travel expected)
