Thalle Construction Company is seeking a Startup and Commissioning Manager for the DFW area. You will plan, coordinate, and oversee startup and commissioning phases of a wastewater treatment plant, ensuring installations, tests, and operations meet project specs and safety standards.

You will lead cross‑functional teams, develop plans and procedures, manage vendors, and ensure a seamless handover to operations while maintaining thorough records and compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years leading startup and commissioning in wastewater or industrial facilities.
• Deep knowledge of wastewater processes, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation & controls.
• Proven experience managing teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Ability to read P&IDs, drawings, and control schematics.
• Strong organizational skills and documentation discipline.

Responsabilités

• Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of all startup and commissioning activities for the wastewater facility.
• Develop detailed startup and commissioning plans, procedures, and test protocols.
• Coordinate construction, engineering, operations, vendors, and client to ensure smooth transition from construction to operation.
• Supervise startup and commissioning personnel, including technicians and subcontractors.
• Oversee inspections, pre‑functional checklists, functional testing, performance verification.
• Identify and resolve issues or deficiencies during startup.
• Maintain detailed records: reports, field notes, punch lists, corrective actions.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance across work.
• Support development of operations manuals, SOPs, and training programs.
• Facilitate and deliver operator training on system operation.
• Coordinate final system acceptance, turnover packages, and warranty support.
• Monitor budget, schedule, and manpower for startup scope.
• Provide regular status updates to management.

Job Title: Startup and Commissioning Manager

Salary: Competitive compensation package based on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Startup and Commissioning Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the startup and commissioning phases of a newly constructed wastewater treatment plant. This role ensures all systems and components are installed, tested, and operational per project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The Project Manager will work closely with project teams, contractors, engineers, and client representatives to deliver a fully operational facility ready for long‑term operation.

• Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of all startup and commissioning activities for the wastewater treatment facility.
• Develop detailed startup and commissioning plans, commissioning procedures, and test protocols.
• Manage coordination between construction, engineering, operations, vendors, and the client to ensure seamless transition from
• construction to operation.
• Supervise startup and commissioning personnel, including technicians, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Oversee system inspections, pre‑functional checklists, functional testing, process testing, and performance verification.
• Identify and resolve issues or deficiencies in equipment installations, controls, and process systems during startup.
• Maintain detailed records of commissioning activities, including reports, field notes, punch lists, and corrective actions.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies, environmental regulations, and site‑specific safety plans.
• Support the development of operations manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training programs for plant operators.
• Facilitate and deliver operator training on system operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Coordinate final system acceptance, including turnover packages, documentation, and warranty support.
• Monitor project budget, schedule, and manpower for startup and commissioning scope.
• Provide regular status updates and reports to senior management and stakeholders.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience managing startup and commissioning activities in wastewater treatment or industrial process facilities.
• Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and instrumentation & controls.
• Proven experience managing teams, subcontractors, and vendors in a project environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, control schematics, and technical specifications.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook).
• Knowledge of safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices related to wastewater treatment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
