Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a part-time team member for its coffee shop. You will assist customers, answer questions, and provide samples while maintaining fresh, correctly portioned products and following safety and quality standards.

You will work with teammates to achieve store goals, handle transactions, and operate coffee shop equipment. Prioritizing customer satisfaction and accuracy is essential in this role.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products in the department and store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions with informed suggestions.
• Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve store goals.
• Prepare beverage selections to recipe and standards using proper equipment; process transactions with best practices.
• Offer product samples and inform customers of coffee shop specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
• Recommend coffee shop items to ensure customers get what they want and need.
• Use coffee shop equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) per guidelines; package and inventory ingredients.
• Check product quality and sell-by dates; take appropriate action as needed.
• Use kitchen equipment (espresso machine, blender, scale, steamer) safely.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report order/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present and upcoming ads and promotions.
• Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions to management; comply with food safety guidelines.
• Inspect equipment and report repairs needed to management.
• Report accidents or safety risks to management.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products

• Prepare beverage selections to recipe and standards and to customer's requests using proper equipment; tender transactions using company best practices
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products for which they inquire about; inform customers of coffee shop specials
• Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size (or as close as possible to the amount ordered) to prevent shrink
• Recommend coffee shop items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need
• Use all equipment in coffee shop such as the refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines; prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review “sell by” dates and take appropriate action
• Properly use kitchen equipment, espresso machine, blender, computerized scale and steamer
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
