Job summary

Applegreen USA Welcome Centers in New Jersey is seeking an Assistant General Manager to support daily operations, lead a team, and uphold brand standards. You will manage performance, coach supervisors, and ensure consistent guest experiences across our busy travel plazas.

The role emphasizes strong leadership, excellent communication, and flexible scheduling. You will help maintain safety, inventory, and cash controls while delivering exceptional service across multiple restaurant brands.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years experience in quick service restaurant or similar management operations.
• Strong leadership and management skills with ability to motivate a team.
• Excellent customer service abilities and a positive attitude.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills with business acumen.
• Flexible and open work schedule.
• Basic food safety understanding and practice.
• Ability and willingness to lift/push objects weighing over 30 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Confidently deliver performance feedback, set goals, foster teamwork, and communicate objectives.
• Supervise non-management associates, assign work, coach shift supervisors.
• Compensate for the absence of the general manager.
• Motivate staff and improve morale during low periods.

What You’ll Do

The Assistant General Manager helps the General Manager to ensure that day-to-day business operations run smoothly. This position provides an opportunity for entry-level managers to learn important management skills and practice judgment and discretion skills.

Role Priorities and Responsibilities

• Confidently deliver performance feedback, set goals, foster teamwork, and clearly communicate business objectives.
• Supervise non-management associates, assign specified work, focus on store level operation performance, coach, and develop shift supervisors.
• Compensate for the absence of the general manager.
• Motivate and positively influence staff, especially during times of low morale.
• Demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Address issues in a timely fashion.
• Ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
• Maintain awareness of all applicable brand standards and all procedures and protocols to maximize brand/landlord/labor relations.
• Ensure the restaurant always looks clean, inviting, and adheres to brand standards.
• Accurate cash management and daily processing, reporting as per company directives.
• Address customer needs and resolve issues, ensuring positive and long-term customer relationships.
• Ensure inventory data is correct by performing spot inventory counts and checks.
