Job summary

Guardians of Honor LLC seeks a Program Instructor to operate at the DoD STARBASE Academy at Patrick Space Force Base in Satellite Beach, FL. The instructor will deliver STARBASE curriculum, manage classrooms, and assist with day-to-day program operations under the STARBASE Director.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in STEM or education) and at least 3 years of elementary education experience, plus CPR/First Aid certification. Onsite work with occasional travel is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials, lesson scripts, classrooms, and activities for instruction; utilize classroom smart technology where appropriate; save backups to external drives.
  • Provide instruction across STEM curriculum for students.
  • Collaborate with other instructors to plan lessons and schedules.
  • Develop new curriculum lessons aligned with state and national objectives.
  • Conduct and evaluate pre/post tests.
  • Mentor visiting instructors participating in STARBASE.

Description

Guardians of Honor (GOH) is a small management consulting firm supporting the federal government since 1997 (www.gohnow.com). We are seeking experienced STEM education professionals to support the operation of our DoD STARBASE Academy client at Patrick Space Force Base, Florida.

GOH is recruiting in anticipation of potential future openings that are subject to final approval and funding. No guarantee of position availability can be made at this time; however, candidate identification and preliminary interviews are being conducted to support timely hiring should authorization be granted.

Position Overview

The Program Instructor organizes and manages classrooms, delivers instruction across all areas of the STARBASE STEM curriculum, maintains records and files, and supports the Director with day-to-day program operations, development, and implementation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare materials, lesson scripts, classrooms, and activities for instruction, utilizing classroom smart technology where appropriate; save backups to external hard drives
  • Provide instruction in all areas of the STARBASE curriculum (sciences, technology, engineering, math, and STEM careers) for students
  • Work as a team with other instructors to prepare lessons, daily class schedules, and instruction
  • Assist in developing new curriculum lessons correlated with state and national objectives for submission to the curriculum committee
  • Conduct and evaluate all pre/post tests
  • Assist and mentor visiting instructors who participate in STARBASE
  • Participate in completion ceremonies
  • Collect data necessary to evaluate program effectiveness; maintain digital student workbooks
  • Assist in maintaining program documentation (photos, press releases, announcements) and select/prepare materials purchase requests
  • Assist in verifying material shipments, updating inventories, and putting away supplies
  • Perform classroom, break room, and office maintenance and cleaning: assist with other duties as assigned by the Director in support of mission success
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a STEM field or education
  • At least 3 years of experience in elementary education (preferred)
Additional Qualifications
  • Knowledge of internet-based tools
  • Ability to recognize and implement effective teaching practices and classroom management skills
  • Ability and willingness to maintain quality communication and effective relationships with military and civilian personnel, district school teachers, students, parents, and volunteers
  • Availability to represent the program at initial and annual training conferences
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/First Aid certification required
  • Completion of criminal history background check

Work Environment:

Onsite at the DoD STARBASE facility; Patrick Space Force Base (Satellite Beach, FL).

Physical demands:

The physical demands of the job include sitting for extended periods, and occasional walking and standing, including classroom setup and cleaning duties.

Position type and expected hours of work: Full-time, non-exempt. Core hours are 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Travel:

Approximately 10% local and regional travel, with overnight stays necessary.

Required education and experience:

Bachelor’s degree required; 3+ years relevant experience preferred.
