Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a Standby Letter of Credit Specialist to manage complex standby LC transactions for sophisticated commercial and corporate clients.

You will draft, structure, and negotiate LC language and oversee the full lifecycle from issuance to release, collaborating with Relationship Managers, Credit, Legal, Compliance, and clients. This role emphasizes risk management, adherence to ISP98 and UCP 600, and delivering accurate, timely processing while maintaining strong client service.

Qualifications

• Standby LC expertise required or strongly preferred.
• Experience drafting, issuing, amendments, negotiations, and draw processing.
• Knowledge of ISP98 and/or UCP 600 is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Draft, structure, and negotiate standby LC language and terms.
• Manage complete standby LC lifecycle: issuance, amendments, amendments, renewals, advising, confirmations, draws, releases.
• Support complex LC structures including syndicated facilities and counter letters of credit.
• Verify credit approvals and facility availability before processing.
• Apply ISP98 and UCP 600 rules to transactions and guidance.
• Review draw presentations for LC term compliance.
• Escalate exceptions and coordinate resolutions with stakeholders.
• Serve as primary contact for clients, RM, Legal, Compliance, and internal partners.
• Monitor high-volume portfolio with accuracy and risk controls.
