POLITICO is seeking an experienced editor with impeccable judgment for a 12-month, 4 days per week contract to join our global standards and ethics team. The role focuses on upholding editorial values, providing real-time guidance to journalists, and ensuring journalistic integrity across platforms.

The editor will collaborate with other editors on sensitive content, write newsroom policies, and contribute to staff training.

Job Description:

POLITICO is looking for an experiencededitorof impeccable judgment for a 12-month, 4 days per week contract to join our growing globalstandardsandethicsteam to ensure the integrity of our journalism across all platformsanddeepen our bonds of trust with readers.

This role comes with a mandate to uphold POLITICO’seditorial valuesandcommitment to authoritative, nonpartisanandtough-mindedly fair journalism; to provide an essential quality check on all the work we do;andto set guidelines but more importantly in real time help journalists resolve knotty ethical questions as they arise.

Thiseditorwill serve as a hands-on collaborator with othereditors on pre-publication reportingandreviews of our most sensitive content as well as the countless issues that come up in the course of producing ambitiousandinnovative journalism.

Thiseditorwill take a lead role in writingandupdating newsroom policiesandstylebook entries to offer clear direction to the staff across the globe andwork alongside others to assist on trainingand development programs for our journalists.

This 32-hours-a-week position can be based in Arlington, VA, New York, NY or Sacramento, CA withthe strong preference to work Eastern Standard Time evenings.
