The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) seeks a part-time Standardized Patient to portray patient cases for medical student training. You will work on an as-needed basis, typically about 8 hours per week, and report to the Clinical Outreach & Standardized Patient Manager.
No prior experience is required; a High School Diploma or GED is needed. Preference is given to those with prior standardized patient experience in a medical school setting. Compensation is $15.30 per hour.
Standardized Patient (SP) is trained to portray the role of a patient, a family member, or other, allowing student learners to practice physical exam, history taking, communication skills and other exercises. The SP will often be physically examined by students and faculty as part of the medical students’ learning experience. The SP must maintain a professional manner when interacting with students, faculty, supervisors, peers, and UIW partners and reports to the Clinical Outreach & Standardized Patient Manager.
