Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a senior Die Design Engineer to lead die design, construction, and supplier collaboration to ensure manufacturability and compliance with Ford WDX standards in our Michigan facilities. This role focuses on driving robust die designs, coordinating between product development and manufacturing, and delivering best-in-class die construction practices.

The position is hybrid, onsite four+ days per week in Dearborn, MI, with salary grades 7–8 and substantial growth

Qualifications

• 10 years of die design experience or leadership
• Extensive knowledge of Stamping Die Standards and die design deliverables
• Extensive knowledge Ford WDX Die Standards and Ford die design deliverables
• Advanced knowledge of die construction and machining practices
• Understanding of die materials and treatment processes per application
• Knowledgeable in Teamcenter
• Knowledge of SMIRT and SMIRT deliverables for Construction Source
• Expert in Catia V5 assemblies and parametrizations
• Understanding of Microsoft 365 and OneDrive
• Self-starter with abilities to manage multiple items and prioritize accordingly based on promise dates and urgency
• Reverse engineer solutions to process or die design concerns/issues

Responsibilities

• Review Die Designs to meet WDX standards and safety requirements
• Lead Die Design Vendor at start of new die set and support production
• Collaborate with Die Vendor and Die Process teams for solutions
• Incorporate lessons learned from previous launches
• Drive best-in-class die standards and vendor development
• Lead Virtual Pattern Reviews and provide direction
• Manage multiple die designs to meet standards and timing
• Organize plant die design reviews with stamping plants
• Work with construction sources to improve die construction issues
