BUTTING USA Inc. is expanding in Alabama and seeks a Class 2 Welder to join a collaborative production team. You will weld and fit stainless steel components, read blueprints, and ensure high-quality piping systems meet customer and company standards.

The role requires 5–8 years of welding experience, extensive TIG welding with stainless steel, and the ability to perform precise fit‑up. OSHA safety compliance and strong communication are essential in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • 5–8 years welding and layout experience required.
  • Extensive TIG welding with stainless steel focus.
  • Experience with pipe welding, fit-up, and welding techniques preferred.
  • Technical diploma or AS degree in Welding Technology preferred; HS diploma required.
  • AWS/ASME welding certifications preferred or achievable.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment.
  • Perform quality inspections to meet standards and specs.
  • Follow safety regulations and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Operate hand tools, shop machinery, and hydraulic brake press.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and root-cause analysis.

Position Summary

Department: Operations

Reports To: Operations Manager

Location: Loxley, Alabama, USA

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Type: Full-Time

Shift: Monday – Thursday, 6:00 am – 4:30 pm (overtime as needed on Friday & Saturday)

The Class 2 Welder is responsible for welding and fitting stainless steel components as part of a collaborative production team. This role supports the fabrication and assembly of high-quality piping systems and metal weldments to meet customer and BUTTING’s standards.

The ideal candidate is able to read blueprints, perform precise fit-up and welding, and work efficiently to meet production demands while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality. This position requires dependability, attention to detail, and the ability to work on multiple projects in a team-oriented

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment
  • Perform inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications
  • Apply all applicable safety regulations and PPE requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Operate hand tools, shop machinery, and a hydraulic brake press
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Maintain a strong understanding of quality systems and regulatory compliance

Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of welding and layout experience required
  • Extensive TIG welding experience is essential, with a strong focus on stainless steel applications
  • Experience with pipe welding, including fit-up and welding techniques, is strongly preferred
  • Technical diploma or associate degree in Welding Technology or a related field preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required
  • AWS or ASME welding certifications preferred, or the ability to obtain them
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety compliance
  • Experience with non-destructive testing methods (visual inspection, dye penetrant testing, X-ray)
  • Familiarity with applicable welding and material standards (AWS, ASME) and MTR verification
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems
