Job summary

The Meadows Psychiatric Center, part of Universal Health Services, Inc., is hiring a Staffing Specialist/Scheduling Coordinator to ensure daily on-site nursing coverage. Mon–Fri, 7am–3:30pm, steady on-site role with UKG scheduling experience required.

The role collaborates with CNO, Nursing Managers, and Supervisors to forecast needs, minimize overtime, and prepare schedules and daily staffing reports. It supports admissions/discharges and crisis response within a large UHS network.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; degree in human services preferred.
  • Two (2) years experience staffing/scheduling in a hospital setting or multi-disciplinary teams
  • Two (2) years experience creating and maintaining staff schedules
  • UGK or other employee scheduling application(s)
  • Experience with position control
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Experience utilizing scheduling software/apps
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills and reliable attendance

  • Look ahead to fill vacant shifts and monitor staffing considering census and acuity.
  • Manage staffing schedules to minimize overtime and prepare daily staffing reports.
  • Maintain copies of schedules and shift assignments as required by licensing agencies.
  • Assist CNO/UNMs with daily supervisory needs and communicate changes as needed.
  • Maintain hospital bed board status sheet and respond to crisis calls on units.

Staffing Specialist/Scheduling Coordinator Opportunity

This position is full-time; 40 hours per week. Monday thru Friday 7am-3:30pm. This is an on-site position. Must have experience with UKG or similar employee scheduling application(s). Must have experience with staff scheduling for multi-disciplinary teams.

The Meadows Psychiatric Center is the leading behavioral health treatment facility in Central Pennsylvania. We are located a short distance outside State College, PA. The Meadows is a 119 inpatient behavioral health hospital and has been providing comprehensive services to children, adolescents, adults and older adults for over 35 years. The Staffing Coordinator works with CNO, Nursing Managers, and Supervisors to ensure appropriate staffing of the nursing units on a daily basis. Looks ahead to fill vacant shifts and monitors staffing to patient ratios taking into account census, acuity, staff orientation and related data points. Manages staffing schedule to minimize overtime. Prepares nursing staffing schedule, generates daily reports related to staffing, staffing sheets and related staff reporting. Maintains copies of schedules and shift assignment shifts as required by licensing agencies. Assists the CNO/UNM's with daily supervisory needs when on shift. Carries the supervisor phone and communicates call-outs and staffing changes to the CNO and ICN as needed. Communicates with ARC and the units regarding admissions and discharges. Maintains a hospital bed board status sheet. Responds to crisis calls on units and assists with milieu management as needed.
