Job summary

Lumicity, an innovative industrial technology startup based in Los Angeles, seeks a Staff Turbomachinery Engineer to own the full lifecycle of high-speed rotating machinery from concept to testing and production. The role focuses on compressors, bearings, seals and related assemblies, with hands-on development and close collaboration with manufacturing.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical/aerospace background, turbomachinery experience, rotor dynamics expertise, and proficiency with Siemens NX

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or related Engineering discipline is required.
• Experience with turbomachinery, compressors, turbines or other high-speed rotating equipment is required.
• Strong knowledge of rotor dynamics, thermodynamics and mechanical design is essential.
• Experience with Siemens NX and FEA tools such as ANSYS is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of compressors, bearings, seals and other high-speed rotating assemblies.
• Own projects from concept through testing, validation and production.
• Perform rotor dynamics, structural, thermal and vibration analysis.
• Develop CAD models, drawings and engineering documentation.
• Support prototype builds, testing and performance validation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to deliver production-ready hardware.

Job Title: Staff Turbomachinery Engineer

Compensation: $170,000-$230,000 + Equity

Hours: Monday to Friday - flexible hours

The Client:

Lumicity has partnered with an innovative industrial technology startup based in Los Angeles, California on their search for a Staff Turbomachinery Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This client is developing next-generation thermal and energy systems and is seeking a hands-on engineer who can take ownership of the full lifecycle of high-speed rotating machinery, from concept development through to testing and production.

The Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of compressors, bearings, seals and other high-speed rotating assemblies.


• Own projects from concept through testing, validation and production.


• Perform rotor dynamics, structural, thermal and vibration analysis.


• Develop CAD models, drawings and engineering documentation.


• Support prototype builds, testing and performance validation.


• Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to deliver production-ready hardware.
