Job summary

Wabtec Corporation in Cedar Rapids, IA, seeks a Staff Test Engineer to support IST Engineering in designing, developing, and facilitating high-quality integration test procedures. This role will also support the enhancement of the entire solution development lifecycle.

The position involves cross-functional collaboration across the global team, development of integrated test plans, and advancing automation tools for customer solutions. Some domestic/international travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering or IT field.
• 7–10 years in software testing, verification, and validation.
• Experience in test automation and scripting (Python/JS/C#).
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP/UDP and network fundamentals.
• Experience with MySQL or MongoDB databases.
• Familiar with requirements management tools (IBM CLM, Doors Next Gen).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; clear communication.
• Ability to work cross-functional in a global environment.
• Systems design and integration/test experience; rail domain preferred.
• Exposure to AI-assisted testing tools and ML analytics (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Ensure testing hardware and software meet system requirements.
• Participate in solution reviews: requirements, scenarios, and use cases.
• Apply a SoS mindset when developing test strategies and validating integrated solutions.
• Work with cross-functional teams to develop IST plans, test procedures, and automation tools.
• Develop and maintain IST test procedures and plans for new features and defect resolutions.
• Preserve test execution results and report for regression cycles.
• Configuration management of test procedures and artifacts.
• Test results reviews and defect logging during execution.
• Conduct peer reviews to ensure quality and unified process.
• Contribute to IST scope estimation for projects.
