Job summary

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. seeks an engineering leader to design, implement, verify, and validate wireless modem air interface software. You will work on modem access stratum, RF SW design, and collaborate with the RFFE team to define IP architecture.

Role requires advanced FM knowledge of RF/WWAN specs (L1/L2/L3) and experience in mmWave technology, with a focus on performance, power, and cost tradeoffs. Strong collaboration across teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in modem/WAN software design, verification, or related roles.
• Experience with RF/WWAN L1/L2/L3 concepts and mmWave is a plus.

Works on critical transceiver, HW control, and wireless Radio Access Stratum software implementation of a multi-RAT (Radio Access Technology) from industry specifications (most notably 3GPP with LTE and 5GNR). Leverages advanced knowledge of RF and/or WWAN L1/L2/L3 specifications and efficiently implements the shared resources of a multi-mode modem. Develops models, code, and/or simulations and weighs tradeoff against loosely defined requirements. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop a cost effective, high quality, and high capability modem IP that meets industry and customer requirements with high performance (e.g., throughput, latency, power consumption) and acceptable cost (e.g., silicon area, calibration complexity, code size). Works primarily on transceiver, HW control and software implementation of mmWave (millimeter waves) technology from 3GPP industry specifications in 5G wireless Radio Access Technology. Leads and develops automation test framework in RF SW team to verify functionality and performance of design for various modules in RFFE. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to collect and analyze mmWave performance (e.g., throughput, latency, power consumption) big data to improve the product for customer experience.
