Job summary

Kforce is seeking a Staff/Tax Accountant for a Long Island, NY-based CPA firm. You will prepare individual, business, trust and non-profit tax returns and support payroll and 1099-related work for small to mid-size clients.

The ideal candidate has 1–4 years in public accounting tax, with Excel, Word and QuickBooks proficiency, familiarity with Forms 1040/1041/1065/1120/1120S, and ideally ProSystem. Strong communication and ambition are essential.

Qualifications

• 1-4 years of recent experience in a public accounting firm preparing tax returns.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and QuickBooks.
• Must be familiar with Forms 1040/1041/1065/1120/1120S.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Should be hard-working and ambitious, and able to work in Nassau County offices.
• Proficiency in ProSystem is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare individual, business (Schedule C, Form 1065, Form 1120, Form 1120S), trust and non-profit tax returns; Works on the preparation of payroll, sales, information (1099s), and other tax returns
• Prepare or compile financial statements
