Endeavor Health in Naperville, IL is seeking a Staff Support Tech for the Sterile Processing Department. The role is per diem-as-needed with daytime hours (7:00am-3:30pm) and no prior experience required. Candidates must be 16+ and prepared to follow infection control practices while wearing PPE.

The position involves assisting with instrument delivery, decontamination, supply picking, and department upkeep under supervision, with opportunities for growth within the Sterile Processing team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; age 16+.
• No prior experience required.
• Ability to follow leadership directions and infection control policies.
• Willingness to wear PPE and work with potentially infectious materials.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of instrumentation to and from ancillary departments using the department's tracking system.
• Assist with receiving soiled instruments from the Operating Room in Decontamination.
• Assist with picking supplies for operating room procedures.
• Assist with cleaning of department work stations and areas.
• Assist with restocking and maintaining supplies at work stations.
• Assist with breaking down supplies received daily.
• Assist with drying and stocking of genesis containers and red bio-hazard bins.
• Assist with decontamination workflow under supervision of a preceptor.
• Learn processes performed by sterile processing technicians to assist as needed.

High school Diploma or equivalent preferredCertification: N/AExperience: No previous experience requiredSkills:Must be able to follow the directions of the leadership team and preceptorsMust be able to work with computers and handheld devicesMust be able to wear proper PPE due to the potential exposure to body fluids and other potentially infectious materials, chemicals and other hazardous conditions. Position may require tasks that involve inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes from them. Appropriate protective measures as outlined in hospital's Infection Control Policies and Procedures are available and required for employees who perform such tasks. Demonstrates complete understanding of infection control practices.Must be able to follow all safety protocols within the department to ensure the safety of all employees.Must be able to retain information and demonstrate the ability to perform simple task.Must be able to rotate through assigned areas of the Sterile Processing Department to provide assistance while being supervised by a preceptor.Must have the ability to lift, carry, pull, push, sit, walk, stand, kneel, bend, and climb repeatedly for extended periods of time, with some sitting. Occasional exertion of moderately heavy nature to include stretching, bending, twisting and lifting trays up to 30 pounds.Must have the ability to push and pull carts with trays and supplies when necessary up to 300 pounds.Must have the ability to develop the understanding of sterile instruments and the processes of the department to ensure accurate delivery of sterile instruments.What you will do:Assist with the delivery of instrumentation to and from ancillary departments utilizing the departments tracking system.
