Job summary

Beckman Coulter Life Sciences, a Danaher operating company, is seeking a Staff Supplier Quality Engineer to ensure supplier quality and manage issues from suppliers to Beckman’s manufacturing processes in Indianapolis, IN. The role is on-site and reports to the Manager – Supplier Development.

You will drive root cause investigations, review component qualification reports, and provide technical guidance to suppliers while supporting production with timely resolutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
• 9+ years of relevant experience in design, manufacturing, and quality of component parts OR Master’s degree with 7+ years exp. OR Doctoral degree with 4+ years exp.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate resolution of supplier issues; drive root cause investigation and corrective actions with suppliers.
• Investigate and analyze technical issues relating to quality, tooling, and supplier manufacturing based on considerable prior experience.
• Provide technical consultation to internal and external suppliers for the selection of manufacturing processes; act as Subject Matter Expert for the assigned commodity(s).
• Review validation reports and/or first article submissions for new supplied components.
• Support Production with rapid communication and resolution of supplier-related issues.

Staff Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality of processes and products from suppliers meet Beckman requirements. Working with Production and Suppliers to analyze/manage/understand issues and problem-solve to define corrective actions. Addressing supplier Non-Conformance and Change Notice. Reviewing and approving Component qualification reports.

This position reports to the Manager – Supplier Development and is part of the Quality Organization located in Indianapolis, IN and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Coordinate and facilitate the resolution of problems involving the integration of suppliers’ products and services into Beckman’s manufacturing processes. Drive Root Cause Investigation and Corrective Actions with Suppliers
• Investigate and analyze technical issues relating to quality, tooling, and supplier manufacturing based on considerable prior experience
• Provide technical consultation to internal and external suppliers for the selection of manufacturing processes. Act as the Subject Matter Expert related to the assigned commodity(s)
• Review validation reports and/or first article submissions for new supplied components.
• Support Production with rapid communication and resolution of supplier-related issues

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Bachelor’s degree inan Engineering or related discipline
• 9+ years of relevant experience, primarily focused on the design, manufacturing, and quality of component parts OR Master’s degree in field with 7+ years exp. OR Doctoral degree in field with 4+ years exp.
• Competent in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint at a minimum)

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

• Ability to travel – Up to 25%

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with techniques such as 5 why's, 8D, pareto analysis, Design of Experiments, DMAIC, and others.
• Self-starter with a sense of urgency to resolve issues and complete projects
• Works well with others and is able to coordinate efforts with own and other departments
• Ability to read and interpret design prints.
