Job summary

Anduril Industries in Costa Mesa seeks a Staff Structures Design Engineer to join the Thunder Team. You will work on new aircraft development in a lean, high-ownership culture, delivering designs within months rather than years.

You will perform static and dynamic analyses, develop FEM workflows, and collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure performance aligns with requirements. A Top Secret clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in engineering or applied physics with a focus in structures.
• Deep understanding of statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and materials properties.
• Structural testing experience (static, buckling, cyclic) including sensor selection and data handling.
• Proficiency in FEA software (ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN) for linear and nonlinear analyses.
• Experience with CAD tools (NX, SolidWorks).
• Proficiency in Matlab or Python for modeling, data acquisition and automation.
• Able to work autonomously and stay organized on ill-defined problems.
• Ability to obtain and hold a US Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform static and dynamic structural analyses of composites and metals using first principles and FEA.
• Develop and own FEM creation and organization at global and subsystem levels.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to drive proper designs from analyses.
• Document analysis methods and results in technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support validation testing including instrumentation requirements, loads, data collection and correlation.
• Participate in flight testing including Do Not Exceed values and inspection disposition.
• Ensure designs meet customer requirements, standards, and safety regulations.
• Stay current with advancements in analysis techniques and materials.
