Job summary

Google is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead YouTube Ads Surfaces and Experiences. You will shape long-term engineering strategy for format optimizations and new experiences, and drive high-impact architectural decisions.

You will act as a de facto authority on major systems, guiding teams through complex design tradeoffs while focusing on scalable, reliable platforms across 100+ engineers. You’ll collaborate across functions to advance ads technology and AI capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 7 years of experience leading technical project strategy, ML design, and optimizing ML infrastructure.
• 5 years of experience with design and architecture along with testing and launching software products.
• Experience working within Ads.
• Experience with GenAI techniques (LLMs, Multi-Modal, Large Vision Models) or related concepts.

Responsibilities

• Drive the long-term engineering strategy for enabling format optimizations and new experiences.
• Act as a de facto authority on major systems and guide the team through design tradeoffs.
• Own key technical decisions and mentor teams across engineering, quality, and client infrastructure.
• Identify system hotspots and invest in improvements to remove barriers to productivity.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration with directors and leaders to align on strategy.
