Job summary

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. We seek versatile engineers to work on projects across AI, data storage, networking, and full-stack software within PIE and Google Cloud, enabling world-scale infrastructure.

The Server Software team designs firmware and software to bring up and run Google's custom servers, appliances, switches, and fleets at scale.

Qualifications

• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
• 5 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Responsibilities

• Lead critical, high-impact software initiatives in a fast-paced environment, overseeing project priorities, deadlines, and core deliverables.
• Apply deep expertise across computer architecture, BIOS, firmware, kernel, and full-stack software to power and scale fleet-level infrastructure.
• Lead early system board bring-up, troubleshooting, triage, and data center deployment by developing automated tools for diagnostics, reliability, and performance evaluation.
• Coach, mentor, and influence a distributed team of engineers to elevate code quality, versatility, and overall engineering excellence.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to align on goals, outcomes, and roadmaps, successfully executing engineering programs and driving continuous productivity improvements.

• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
• Experience in one or more of the following: Computer Architecture, Continuous Build, Continuous Deployment, Continuous Integration and GPU Drivers.

The Server Software team is responsible for designing and developing the firmware and software to bring up and run Google's custom designed Servers, Appliances, Switches and supporting these at scale in the fleet. We work with many partner teams within and outside of PIE.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits
